101 Hair Formula is based on an ancient Chinese prescription called Qi Bao Mei Ran Dan which traditionally was used for the treatment of hair loss. This formula is made in Australia and involves modern scientific methods.

According to Chinese medicine, the health of the kidney and liver plays a large factor in the growth and maintenance of hair. If the kidney or liver loses it's qi (energy) or efficiency, hair loss will result. Early in life, the kidney and liver function optimally and the individual appears to have a rich and lustrous head of hair. With no stress or worry, the individual is able to keep their hair. However, over time, stress and negative emotions can reduce the qi and the functioning of the liver and kidney causing the hair to fall out.

Diet also plays a role in hair loss. If one frequently eats oily, greasy or sweet food, this can reduce the stomach and the spleen's ability to transform food into nutrients. Consequently, an internal "damp heat" rises to the top of the head. "Damp heat" retained in the hair pores obstructs the flow of blood and prevents the hair from being nourished. Hair loss results.
