In this month’s edition of 101 our nutrition seminar, we will take a look at two popular diets - the Anti-Inflammatory Diet and the Mediterranean Diet.

For those of you interested in cutting out foods that promote inflammation in the body while adding foods that naturally reduce inflammation in the body, this diet is worth looking into. Studies have shown links between inflammation and a number of medical conditions. Therefore inflammation can have some serious consequences on many internal systems of the body. If we are able to control inflammation, then this can help lower the risk of common health problems including weight gain and high cholesterol as well as many others.

The Mediterranean Diet involves preparing and cooking food using methods long used in that part of the world. It is one of the most written about diets for preventing heart problems. Some of the key components of this diet are consuming high amount s of plant-based foods, adding olive oil to meals, drinking red wine with meals, regular intake of fresh fish while limiting red and processed meats. Benefits of the Mediterranean Diet include lowering your risk of developing diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease and cancer.

These two popular diets can effectively reduce inflammation in the body and offer people a variety of dietary approaches to stay healthy. Why not watch the presentation and learn more about how you can incorporate these two styles of eating into your regular lifestyle. So do your body a favour and check it out the video linked to this post.

    Summary of Video Clip

People that are experiencing hair loss are often desperate for a cure. However, most hair loss sufferers have no idea where to go for the right advice. Many turn to their doctor for an opinion but are commonly referred introduced to the pharmaceutical system which is not the best option for this type of condition. Trichologists  have the specific knowledge and skills to deal with hair loss and offer sufferers viable solutions based on people’s specific condition (scalp condition and level of hair loss).
When you visit a Trichologist, they will conduct a professional health assessment with you, including a hair and scalp analysis. Blood and other laboratory test results may be checked to confirm the condition. Finally the Trichologist will arrange a treatment strategy that is suitable.

A very important role of the consultation is to establish the sufferer’s level of hair loss. When this has been determined, suitable treatments can be suggested and information about the length of time required for each of these treatment approaches (before seeing improvement) can be provided.
Trichologists have a number of different treatment strategies at their disposal. For example, they often recommend vitamin/mineral supplements, herbal extracts, pharmaceutical products as well as diet and lifestyle modifications. Ocassionally the Trichologist will avoid prescribing any treatment all together, instead advising the person to wait a few weeks or months until the problem gradually resolves itself.

Watch the above video if you are experiencing hair loss and want to get some professional advice and learn about treatment strategies that are valuable in the treatment of this condition.

    Summary of Video Clip

Female Pattern Hair Loss is becoming more and more of a serious problem in society today. It is believed that about 14% of consultations for hair loss in the world are attended by women. An interesting statistic is that over 40% of women prior to reaching the age of 50 will suffer from hair loss.

Female Pattern Hair Loss is associated with an enormous amount of psychological stress and anxiety. It affects women a lot more harshly than hair loss in males, who culturally are less stigmatized as a result.

A common drug used for treating Female Pattern Hair Loss is Finasteride. It’s mechanism of action is primarily on blocking the accumulation of male hormone around hair follicles. This hormone is responsible for hair loss in genetically susceptible women. One serious problem with this pharmaceutical medication is that it can lead to mutations in the unborn fetus.

Furthermore, clinical studies on the effectiveness of Finasteride in women, have shown it to be quite ineffective for hair regrowth.

Watch the woman in the above video explain how she suffered from this problem for a number of years and how it put a lot of mental strain on her. Listen to how she finally decided to seek a safe and natural treatment to help regrow her hair in a couple of months. Although very distressed at the time, she is now more than happy to discuss her story and highly recommends our herbal treatment to other women with the same issue.

    Summary of Seminar

Weight loss is big business these days and it can be quite difficult for consumers out there to choose a good diet plan to help them lose weight. Many diets on the market make various claims and give scientific explanations for how they work.

A couple of these types of diet are the Paleo and 5:2 diet. Paleo involves a diet based on eating patterns used by humans during the hunter and gatherer era a long time ago. This diet has many advocates claiming improved health benefits however there are also many experts who oppose such a method of eating.

The 5:2 diet is quite a different approach compared to Paleo. With this diet an average week looks like the following: 5 “normal” eating days along with 2 days of reduced calorie intake (around 500-600 per day). There have also been a number of nutritional specialists who support such a diet due to many health benefits attributed to this way of eating. Once again there are also opponents that argue this diet is not suitable for everyone interested in shedding a few pounds.

Those of you considering following one of these diets should definitely check out the video above to learn more about both diets and discover which one might be most suitable for you.

We will also present a few other popular diets over the next few months to give you even more options when it comes to losing weight and/or improving your health.

    Summary of Video Clip

Hair loss sufferers most often start with standard pharmaceutical treatments in an attempt to regrow their hair. Many people first visit their local pharmacy and purchase “Rogaine” treatment (an externally applied foam preparation containing the drug Minoxidil) while others visit their doctor who will commonly prescribe Propecia (a medication that contains the drug Finasteride) to take orally. Surprisingly a high percentage of these people have very little knowledge about the possible problems that may occur as a result of using either of these pharmaceutical medications.

It is very important for hair loss sufferers to understand that both Rogaine and Propecia are drugs that were previously designed to treat different medical conditions including hypertension (high blood pressure) and Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy in males. As is the case with a large number of drugs available today, adverse reactions from pharmaceutical hair loss treatments are common. A major concern however is the dangers that these drugs pose to males in particular.

The idea of this seminar is primarily to inform hair loss sufferers about the possible dangers of using pharmaceuticals for their condition. It also provides an alternative direction them know that there are better alternatives available to regrow their hair effectively and safely. This is information is essential for both males and females who are suffering with hair loss and want a solution that works without any side effects.

  • Photo Comparison To Clearly See Your New Hair Regrowth”

    Introduction

In this seminar, our Hair Practitioner, Nick will discuss an interesting topic called “Photo Comparison To Clearly See Your New Hair Regrowth”

Learn about why hair loss sufferers should use “before” and “after” photographs when using a hair regrowth treatment. Watch how the Aushair clinic measures hair regrowth by a unique photo comparison system that has been continually been refined for more than 20 years. Hear about the special methods that we use in our clinic to accurately and effectively measure hair regrowth.

Interested in finding out more? Please visit www.aushair.com.au for the Google Hangout link to our next seminar and watch us live online at home.

    (0.15 minutes to 16.11 minutes)

    Summary of Video Clip

Since the early 1990s our company has strongly advocated the use of “before” and “after” photo comparison for all of our clients. In our experience, only a professional photo comparison system can clearly present any improvements in hair condition to hair loss sufferers after a period of treatment.

We have had a number of clients during the initial stages (usually the first one to two months) who strongly believed that our herbal treatment hadn’t worked for them. Our advice has remained the same for many years – “Let’s do a photo comparison and see what/if any changes have occurred”. In almost every case we were able to show the client that their hair condition had improved even after such a short treatment period. The clients often showed a reaction of disbelief, but at the same time happiness because they realised that they were on the right track.

Photo comparison is a must for any person serious about regrowing their hair. It is virtually impossible for anyone to remember their hair condition prior to beginning treatment. Therefore, the “before” photo is absolutely needed to provide an initial point of reference from where a measurement can be made of the success (or failure) of a treatment.

This seminar will also introduce some of the methods used in our professional photo comparison, such as the use of high resolution and magnified images as well as how, where and why we take certain photos. Armed with this information hair loss sufferers can consider to use photo comparison with either our Aushair Herbal Hair Regrowth treatment or another treatment of their choice.

  • How Aushair Herbal Programs Can Treat Alopecia Areata

This month’s Aushair seminar focusses on one particular disorder that causes patchy hair loss. The disorder is called Alopecia Areata.

Watch our experienced hair loss practitioner explain more about this problem including standard pharmaceutical treatments currently on the market, why these drugs are not the best choice for treating this type of hair loss. Also learn how a specific herbal remedy created more than 40 years ago, can cure this type of hair loss.

Interested in finding out more? Please visit www.aushair.com.au for the Google Hangout link to our next seminar and watch us live online at home.

    (3.00mins to 24.38 mins)

    Summary of Video Clip

Patchy hair loss from Alopecia Areata is due to the body’s own immune system attacking the hair follicles on the scalp. The result of this is hair follicle inflammation. Alopecia Areata affects men and women equally. With Alopecia Areata the hair follicles still remain intact and are not damaged by the inflammation.

Standard medical treatment approaches involve the use both topical and orally taken anti-inflammatory steroid drugs. Minoxidil (a common medication used for male and female genetic thinning) is also sometimes used topically for this condition as well. The major problem with these medications is their lack of efficacy as well as side effects.

The all natural herbal approach to treating Alopecia Areata that we use here at the Australian Hair & Scalp Clinic has an excellent success rate and has been used for clinically for over 40 years. This treatment offers Alopecia Areata sufferers a safe and effective solution for their patchy hair loss.

The above video outlines more information about this interesting topic.

    (25.11 mins to 41.44)

    Summary of Video Clip

Quality sleep is such an important factor in maintaining good health. Even though it is quite common knowledge that sleep is very important for our health, it is amazing that many people in todays’ society fail to get sufficient sleep on a regular basis.

Having a poor night’s sleep now and again rarely causes people any major concerns, however if one is constantly not sleeping well then serious health problems may start to emerge. High blood pressure, being overweight as well as heart and kidney problems are some of the conditions then are more commonly associated with sleep deficiencies.

The good news is that there are ways to help you achieve a better night’s rest and help to prevent falling victim to one of the medical problems just mentioned. By improving certain lifestyle factors and making appropriate changes in diet you can improve your sleep patterns and ensure your body has the time to recuperate each night for better health.
