What is Male Pattern Baldness (Hair Loss) ...
Normally, Androgenetic Alopecia occurs in males and this is called Male Pattern Baldness. Sometimes females can also suffer from Androgenetic Alopecia and this is called Female Pattern Baldness. There are three stages in the progression of Male Pattern Baldness:
-
early stage - an oily and/or itchy scalp, a lot of dandruff and gradual hair loss;
-
mid term - less hair on the crown area which is quite obvious;
-
late stage - the only hair left is on the back of the head and sides.
Why it happens ...
Male Pattern Baldness (Hair Loss) is, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, caused by a disturbance in the wind and heat mechanisms in the human body. This causes blood-dryness and poor nutrition for the hair follicle.
How it occurs ...
Male Pattern Baldness (Hair Loss) occurs when testosterone is transformed into the hormone DHT. This causes the hair follicle to gradually become smaller and smaller over time. Consequently, the hair gets smaller and smaller in size. Eventually, the hair becomes so small that it no longer reaches the surface of the scalp. This type of hair loss is not constant, but happens in fits and bursts.
